The Nigerian Institute of Building is the professional body for Builders and those who are about to be engaged in the Building Profession.

The Institute has its origin in a similar body called the “Builder’s which was formed in 1834 by a number of prominent Builder in London. The Builder’ Society later became the Institute of Building in the United Kingdom which later became The Chartered Institute of Building in 1980 and now The Institute for the Management of Construction.

Nigeria became the first overseas centre of the Institute of Building in 1967, The Nigerian centre of the institute of Building became autonomous on November 5, 1970 and from then acquired the name “The Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB)”

A registered Builder is a person who has received an approved standard of professional training and practice in building and found competent after due examination and his/her name is entered into the register of the Council.

  5. Submit completed Membership Application Form through your State Chapter for attestation
  6. All submitted Membership Application Form should be forwarded through the office of the Honorary General Secretary for further processing.

Applicant must be a duly registered member of the Institute (NIOB) as Technician, Licentiate, Associate or Graduate category.

  1. Download the NIOB Examination form Exam Form 1 and Exam Form 2 Save it & PRINT IN A3 COLOURED.
  2. Fill the form correctly as instructed.
  3. Click on Enrollment fee to view payment categories. (http://www.niobnat.org.ng/Portal/FrontEnd/ExamEnrollment.aspx )
  4. Make payment through these options:
  5. Submit completed Examination form with photocopies of all credentials as well as evidence of payment through your State Chapter for attestation.
  6. All submitted examination forms should be forwarded through the State Chapter to the National Secretariat for further processing latest 2 weeks to commencement of Examination.

    It was established by Act CAPS B13LFN, 2004 (formerly known as Decree No 45 of 1989). CORBON was established to regulate and control the practice of building profession in all its aspect and ramifications.
