NIOB Lagos State Chapter was the very first chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Building to be established in Nigeria.
After the Institute gained statutory backing through the Builders (Registration, etc.) Decree No. 45 of 1989, Lagos — then the nation's capital and the hub of the Institute's activities — became the natural home of its first State Chapter. Its emergence reflected the growing number of vibrant members within the national body.
Founding fathers
The chapter owes its foundation to the dedication of its pioneers, who sustained the profession through its earliest and most uncertain years, among them:

Milestones
1987
A caretaker committee led by Bldr. (Mrs.) I. O. Bolarinwa reignited the
chapter after a quiet period, putting enduring structures in place.1988
The first election was held; Bldr. Awala L. K. A., FNIOB, was elected the
chapter's first Chairman (1988–1990). The first Annual General Meeting was
held at Yaba College of Technology.1991
Under Bldr. (Pastor) Femi Adenusi, the chapter held its first Conference and
AGM at the University of Lagos Conference Centre — themed around computer
applications in the construction industry.Today
NIOB Lagos continues to champion the building profession through professional
development, the annual Lagos Builders Conference, and member services now
delivered through this portal.
